In our latest video, we show you how to get massive reach, engagement and lead generation from using LinkedIn video.

We also throw in some LinkedIn video hacks to get more reach, tell you how to secure your long term growth on LinkedIn, AND show you how to see who’s been watching your videos!

Plus, we’ll help you avoid a HUGE no-no when it comes to posting video – and it’s not what you think!

Get your face out there

Imagine scrolling through a dull sea of boring posts from people you connected with ages ago, some of whom you don’t even remember… then all of a sudden you see a friendly face smiling at you and talking to you.

One of the most powerful things you can do to stand out and grow relationships and trust online is to really get your face out there.

There’s another powerful case for using video in your LinkedIn posts too…

Native LinkedIn Video

Previously, if you wanted to post a video to LinkedIn you would’ve had to post a YouTube link.

But now you can upload your video natively and LinkedIn. The platform is giving you huge rewards for uploading videos directly (natively) in the algorithm.

There’s a lot of reach and engagement is on the table, and for the first time ever, we’re excited about LinkedIn!

We’re seeing everyone who’s doing this make a huge impact, even with videos that aren’t particularly polished.

Build your awareness and your connections

The beauty of all this extra reach is that you can not only build your awareness but you can also build your connections by connecting with those people who engage with your video post.

One of the problems we find is that people just have a ‘flash in the plan’ moment where they will do random sporadic videos without any proper planning.

But if you really want to build some momentum and get traction on LinkedIn to massively grow your following then you might want to start to consider doing a series of videos.

Here’s a couple of examples

John Espirian, an ATOMIC member of ours is well known on LinkedIn for being relentlessly helpful and one of the things he does is a video series sharing short handy tips in under 20 seconds

Creating a series like this gives people a reason to come back and connect with. It also gives people a reason to share what they’ve watched you talk about with others, talk about you and tell other people to come and follow you.

Another person who does this well is Janine Coombes who does a short video series on LinkedIn about marketing myth busting which really opens people’s eyes and makes them question their marketing strategies.

We literally can’t log into LinkedIn without seeing both of these people because they are providing such great engaging content via video.

This is the secret to your long term growth on LinkedIn – create a video series.

A word of warning

There’s one thing that we really want you to avoid, and this is a big big no no …

If LinkedIn is not your main platform, for example, if you’re trying to grow a YouTube channel or Facebook page, them please don’t post your YouTube or Facebook videos on LinkedIn for the sake of it.

It’s incredibly tempting to post your full YouTube videos onto LinkedIn because you’ll probably see a big impact, lots of reach and people viewing your content but it doesn’t grow your YouTube channel.

All it does is train people to expect to be able to watch all your video content on LinkedIn.

If you want to grow your YouTube channel we would definitely post teaser clips or short snippets from your videos with a link back to your YouTube channel… but remember, if you’re trying to grow your YouTube channel, simply posting your video on LinkedIn will not encourage people to want to subscribe to your YouTube channel.

If you’re trying to get people to go and listen to your podcast or go read your blog a good idea might be to do a simple LinkedIn video ‘talking heads style’ where you read a section of your blog or podcast over video and encourage people to listen or read the full version over on your website.

Use captions

Also, to maximise your reach you’re definitely going to want to consider using captions on your videos.

There’s a staggering amount of people that don’t have the sound on whilst browsing LinkedIn, so to capitalise on this huge potential you need captions on the video to get people engaging even when there’s no sound.

You can use Rev.com to get the captions done for you. It only costs $1 a minute which is super affordable, it’s done in a few hours by an actual human and it’s 99% accurate so you don’t even have to check it, although Rev make it super easy to edit if you do. Use this link to get your first 5 minutes for free.

Rev will give you an SRT file which is the file type that contains your caption. As you upload the video directly to LinkedIn, in the top-right hand corner, click the pen icon, select your SRT caption file and click post. Simples!

The captions will be displayed automatically when the video is played.

How to find out who’s been watching your LinkedIn videos

Here’s a great LinkedIn video hack.

If you click on the ‘view counts’ once you’ve posted your video you can see who’s been watching.

This means you can get a real sense of whether or not your content is hitting the mark and attracting the right type of people. You can also follow up with those people and companies.

And that’s the beauty of LinkedIn, it’s a business platform and the quality of your views can be extremely valuable to you, even without huge view counts.

Now go forth, implement these tips, get some extra reach and ensure your long-term growth! Have you tried LinkedIn video before and how well did it work for you? Let us know in the comments 👇
