Number 1 – Create an audience using the 90:10 Rule

We did a whole video about this, but the premise is simple… spend 90% of your marketing efforts doing ONE thing remarkably well.

To generate leads online, you need people to pay attention to you, and if you split your efforts trying to grow an Instagram account, a LinkedIn account, a FB page and a YouTube channel, it’s harder to build.

So build your audience in one place by putting 90% of your efforts into it 💪

Number 2 – Do the unscalable by talking to people

This isn’t a scalable strategy, but it’s important.

When you’re building your audience online and trying to generate leads, the worst thing you can do is think that it’s super easy and all you have to do is schedule everything and spam everyone and remove yourself completely from the equation.

You need to get to know your audience, your potential customers, your potential fans and potential champions of what you do – and the only way to do that is to talk to people.

Be proactive with building relationships with online.

Number 3 – Sell something people want and explain it well

Think: Are you actually selling stuff that people want to buy?

In the early days, we wasted so much time, energy and resources on trying to sell things people didn’t really want or understand.

One of the biggest issues we see with a lot of small business owners, is not necessarily a problem with their marketing, but with how they’re communicating their offering. So, make it really clear…

This needs to be REALLY simple and really straight forward.

Number 4 – Focus on getting people to take the first step in your funnel

It’s all well and good doing a ton of audience building content with Step 1. But you need to answer this question… if someone is going to buy whatever you are selling, what is the logical first step?

It could be to get a quote, download a buying guide, attend a webinar, or jump on the phone with you.

Whatever it is though, you need to make sure that this is CRYSTAL CLEAR 💎

This sounds simple, but so many people do it badly.

We were talking to somebody not so long ago and their first step was to get a potential customer to call them.

And we said to them, “OK… well does it say that on your website? Is there a big call to action to pick up the phone and call you? Does it say that in your social bios? Do you post about that online?” And she said, “No, all I have is a contact page.”

Our audience isn’t stupid, but we’re all busy and distracted, so when we want somebody to do something, we need to make it really clear, really easy and really obvious WHY they should do something.
